How to Connect SAGA to Your AI Assistant via MCP

Last updated 13 days ago

This guide walks you through connecting your SAGA workspace to major AI chat providers using the SAGA MCP server.

Step 1: Make sure you have a SAGA account

You'll log in through your browser during the OAuth flow.

Step 2: Connect to your AI assistant

Pick your assistant below and follow the steps.

Claude Desktop / Claude Cowork

  1. Open Claude Desktop

  2. Click Customize in the left sidebar

  3. Go to Connectors β†’ click + Add custom connector

  4. Paste the URL:

    https://mcp.thesaga.app/mcp
  5. Click Add

  6. Your browser will open asking you to log in to SAGA and authorize the connection

  7. Sign in β†’ click Allow β†’ you're done

The available SAGA tools will appear in Claude automatically.

If you prefer you can follow this guided video tutorial

ChatGPT

SAGA connects to ChatGPT as a custom MCP app. What you see depends on your ChatGPT plan and your workspace.

Personal accounts (Free, Go, Plus or Pro) β€” if Developer mode is available in your settings:

  1. Open ChatGPT in your browser and go to Settings β†’ Security and login β†’ turn on Developer mode

  2. Open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins) β†’ click the + button

  3. Enter a name (e.g. "SAGA") and paste the URL:

    https://mcp.thesaga.app/mcp
  4. Click Create and wait for the tool scan to finish

  5. Your browser will ask you to log in to SAGA β†’ click Allow

  6. In a new chat, click the + icon next to the message bar β†’ select your SAGA app

  7. Ask it something, for example: "Show my recent leads in SAGA"

ChatGPT Business

  • Workspace admins: in Workspace settings β†’ Permissions & Roles, enable Developer mode / Create custom MCP connectors. Then create the connection from Workspace settings β†’ Apps β†’ Create, paste the URL, run Scan Tools, authorize the SAGA login and click Create. Only admins/owners can enable Developer mode, and each one enables it for themselves β€” it cannot be switched on for individual members.

  • Members: once your admin has published SAGA for the workspace, open Plugins β†’ select SAGA β†’ click Connect β†’ log in to your SAGA account and authorize. If SAGA is not listed, ask your workspace administrator.

ChatGPT Enterprise / Edu

  • Admins: enable Developer mode from Settings β†’ Apps β†’ Advanced Settings (or create the connection from Workspace settings β†’ Apps β†’ Create), then use RBAC to decide who gets developer access and who can use SAGA.

  • Members: if SAGA has been approved for your organization, open Plugins / Apps, select SAGA, authenticate with your SAGA account and start using it.

Don’t see Developer mode or Plugins? Availability varies by account, region and workspace policy. If Developer mode or Plugins does not appear in your settings, your account does not currently have access to custom MCP connections.

The exact names and locations of Developer mode, Plugins and Apps may change as ChatGPT is updated. If your account has Developer mode and lets you create a custom MCP connection, you can follow the personal-account steps above on any plan.

Cursor

  1. Open Cursor

  2. Go to Settings β†’ MCP Servers

  3. Click + Add new MCP server

  4. Fill in:

    • Name: saga

    • Type: Streamable HTTP

    • URL: https://mcp.thesaga.app/mcp

  5. Click Add

  6. Your browser will open β†’ log in to SAGA β†’ authorize

Claude Code (terminal)

claude mcp add saga --transport http https://mcp.thesaga.app/mcp

Your browser will open for the OAuth login. Once authorized, run claude mcp list to confirm it's connected.

Codex CLI

codex mcp add SAGA --url https://mcp.thesaga.app/mcp

Open the URL that Codex prints, log in to SAGA (or create your account if you don’t have one yet) and click Allow to grant access. You can then use SAGA straight away in Codex.

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Create a file .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

{ "servers": { "saga": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.thesaga.app/mcp" } } }

Restart VS Code. The first time Copilot tries to use SAGA, your browser will open for OAuth login.

Gemini CLI

gemini mcp add saga -- https://mcp.thesaga.app/mcp

Step 3: Start using it

Once connected, just ask your AI to do something with SAGA. For example:

  • "Show my recent leads in SAGA"

  • "Create a lead magnet called 'Free PDF Guide'"

  • "What are my contact pipeline stats?"

  • "Add a follow-up task for John in SAGA"

Upload a file from your browser (AI agent)

When your AI assistant (Fibi or another SAGA-connected agent) needs a file from your device, it sends you an upload link in the conversation.

Steps

  1. Click the upload link while logged in to SAGA in the same browser.

  2. On the upload page, click to choose a file.

  3. Wait for Upload complete.

  4. Return to your agent conversation β€” the assistant can now use the file.

Supported files

  • PDFs

  • Images (JPEG, PNG, WebP)

  • Word documents

Troubleshooting uploads

Problem

What to do

β€œMissing session id”

The link expired or was copied incompletely. Ask the agent for a new upload link.

Upload failed

Tap Try again, or request a fresh link from the agent.

Not logged in

Sign in to SAGA first, then reopen the link.

Upload links are single-use session links. Do not share them publicly.

Troubleshooting

Problem Fix

Browser doesn't open for login

Check that your AI client supports OAuth for remote MCP servers

"401 Unauthorized"

Your OAuth session may have expired β€” remove and re-add the connection

Tools not showing up

Restart the app completely after adding the connection

"Transport not supported"

Make sure you're using Streamable HTTP or SSE, not stdio

One connection, one OAuth login, and your SAGA workspace works across any AI assistant that supports MCP.
