📚 What Courses Are
Courses turn SAGA into your own learning hub. You build a course once, publish it, and every member of your team can join it and work through it at their own pace — on desktop or on their phone.
A course holds everything your training needs:
Modules — sections that group your lessons into chapters
Lessons — one idea per step, with a short description and any media it needs
Videos — embed a YouTube or Vimeo video straight into a lesson
PDFs and worksheets — upload the file and add it as a download button
Images — a banner image for the lesson, or a picture to look at
Links — point a lesson at a tool, a page or a form
Members see their progress on every course, and leaders see who has finished what.
🧱 How a Course is Structured
Courses work like Onboarding, so anyone who has been through onboarding will feel at home. Three levels, and then you're done:
Course — the catalogue entry: title, short description and a colour. This is the card your members see.
Section (module) — a chapter inside the course, with its own title, description, header image and colour.
Step (lesson) — the unit a member completes: title, banner image, a rich-text description and as many buttons as the lesson needs (video, PDF, link, image).
Every course carries a progress bar, and each step has a simple checkmark — tick it when you're done and watch the progress build up section by section.
When a member opens a course, a sidebar lists every section and step and takes them straight to their first unfinished lesson, so they always land exactly where they need to continue.
🙋Join and Work Through a Course
Courses has three tabs: All, Active and Completed.
Find the course you want and click Join. A short summary shows what you'll get: lessons to move through at your own pace, and your place saved for later.
Work through the lessons from the sidebar. When you finish one, tick the checkmark to mark it complete.
Leave whenever you like — your progress is saved. The card then shows Continue instead of Join, and it moves to Active until you finish.
A course that is waiting on another one shows a padlock and the name of the course blocking it. Finished courses move to Completed with a Review button, so members can go back through the material whenever they want.
✅ What "Finished" Means
A course counts as finished only while every lesson currently in it is done, and a course with no lessons is not finished.
If a leader adds a new lesson later, the course returns to Active until that lesson is complete — the lessons you already ticked stay ticked. The same rule applies everywhere, including in the tracker leaders use to see team progress.
